These are ceremonial garments for the shamans, magicians, and wizards of our time. It is the creators of our electronic wonders, the magical boxes that entertain and pacify the populace, insuring domestic tranquility, controlling our minds and lives, that we pay homage to with the money we earn in our labors. Computers, cell phones, music players, video games, digital televisions, and other electronic wizardry have come to dominate our society’s quest for status and happiness, and the bestowers of these magical and powerful devices (that we enjoy but only they understand) are revered and honored by our sacrifices.
What do we sacrifice? We give up the hours that we work to afford the products and the time that we spend, minds locked into the wizard’s programs, instead of being mindfully aware of the beauty in our natural world that is more amazing and free.
Structurally, the robes are made of paper, electronic parts, and other materials, many disposable, like the cherished electronics that are discarded in order to be replaced by the next version, insuring our continued allegiance to the priesthood. They are bound together by encaustic wax, like the wings of Icarus (also bound by wax),impermanent, and vulnerable to dissolution when the next generation of wizards and shamans appear to usurp the present ones’ reign with mind controlling wonders yet unimagined.
