Rodney in an eastern Sierra hot spring, circa 1975

Rodney has worked in a variety of art mediums over the past 40 years. For several years he was actively involved in creating abstract encaustic art, as well as showing his art, teaching workshops, and presenting at national conferences. His art and writing have been featured in several books on encaustic art.

In 2016 Rodney moved to the eastern Sierra. He had been hiking and backpacking in the eastern Sierra since 1972 and came to love the area for its natural beauty and extensive hiking and exploring opportunities. Since living in Bishop, California his art has shifted to reflect his love, passion, and reverence for the natural wonder of the high alpine Sierra, as well as the region’s deserts and other local mountains. Wanting to share this spiritual connection to these majestic and inspiring landscapes he has pursued and mastered photopolymer/photogravure etching to convert photographic images into iconic images of the sacred places that call to his heart.
