Introducing a new book “Sacred Baths”, by Rodney Thompson
From over 50 years of hot spring bathing I share photographs of some of the amazing hot spring baths I have visited and have created simple narratives to describe a spiritual perspective as one way to immerse oneself in this experience with the earth and its natural wonders. Hot springs provide an opportunity for relaxation and stress relief, for introspection and quiet contemplation, which reinforces the sacred connection between us and our natural environment and creates in us a deeper bond with the earth itself.
From the back cover:
“Imagine hot water, heated by the core of the earth, flowing naturally out of the ground and pouring through a rock lined pool.
Imagine slipping into the pool, slowly, calmly, and with reverence.
These are the Sacred Baths.
What would it feel like to bathe outdoors in the wild…
-in winter snow,
-in the moonlight,
-under a hot waterfall,
-deep in the wilderness,
-at a desert oasis?
Through photographs and “meditations” – haiku and short musings – this book offers a glimse of the extraordinary experience of wild hot spring bathing.”
